Jun 12 - Pack up and head to the train station. It is a relief to have such a robust public transport system, where we can just show up and expect that there will be frequent trains going wherever we need to. It is just over US$10 a ticket to Tainan, about three hours south.
Like Taichung, our hotel (more of a homestay this time) is within walking distance of the main train station. It is stuck in a back alley and takes a bit of effort to find. Too early for check-in, so have to haul all the gear down to a nearby mall, where there are plentiful food options in the basement food court.
Eventually do check in, get some errands done, then after dinner head to the Kaijiyu Temple. It is dedicated to the Jade Emperor.
