Dec 25 - Despite lack of decorations, it does feel at last a little bit like Christmas. The sky is dark and there is rain throughout the day. The outside temperature does not get above 10⁰ C. I update the website and begin composing travel accounts on a writing site someone recently referred me to.
Odette gets up and we open the presents left now in the living room. We all get shirts, and Odette gets a bag of treats. They watch the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, among other seasonal programs. I eventually get around to some travel administrative work, possible now that we have strong wi-fi.
We found pancake mix in the local grocery store yesterday, and have the rare opportunity to make them today. Odette has been asking for pancakes for months.
In the afternoon, Odette and I go on a walk around the neighborhood to get some exercise, once the sky clears a bit. We are in a fairly upmarket district, centered on Paris Square. There are international restaurants, art and antique galleries, and, interestingly, a preponderance of liquor stores.
Janet cooks up beans, rice, and chicken for dinner. It is really nice to eat dinner by ourselves, something that has become a rarity since leaving Eastern Europe.
