Mar 24 - Organize an onward ride for tomorrow, put clothes in at a laundry service (just someone’s house), and head to the northeast part of Gili Meno with rented snorkel gear. Though people indicate to us that the area offshore is good for coral, it must be really far out because Odette is already tired before we reach anything worth looking at. My snorkel is bad anyway, leaking fast and forcing me to clear it every 30 seconds, so I walk the long road back to the rental place to replace it.
Eventually we move far enough south along the shore that we hit better coral, though I don’t see anything that we haven’t already been looking at.
Eat lunch at a pleasant covered row of tables on the beach, watching a thunderhead develop over Mt. Rinjani on Lombok and dump a ton of rain on it. Then back to the room to update this journal. Eat dinner at the same place we at the last two nights, which is just a collection of tables attached to a house but serve exceptional food. Tonight there are less people at the mosque, so the women now can stand in the courtyard rather than across the street.
