Jun 4 - Up and out on a tuk-tuk to catch the 9:00 minivan to Puerto Princesa. Another day without rain, hopefully this means that there won’t be any more travel delays. Retrace our route south through the forests of Palawan, stopping at the obligatory wayside restaurant for a quick meal at lunch. This driver, unlike our ride up, is hell-bent on going as fast as possible, screeching around the curves and otherwise making for a less than relaxing trip.
We go directly to the airport, as everyone else in the minivan is getting off there. We have him take us just outside the airport entrance to get a tuk-tuk to downtown. Our hotel, located on a back street, has a ship theme going, including round windows in the hallways. Also has numerous cabinets of dolls and other random collectibles.
There is some confusion because I canceled, rebooked different dates, canceled that, and rebooked a second time. In the end I just pay cash, otherwise Booking.com will overcharge me.
Take a walk through the downtown district. First up by the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. It is Sunday so there is a service going on.
From here, wind down some small roads to the promenade along the sea. There are numerous eateries here, specializing in seafood. Odette does a crab count along the shore, disturbing several young couples seated along the seawall.
Once in wifi range again at hotel, receive the unwelcome news that our second flight tomorrow has also been moved. This time, however, it has been moved to the next morning. This means most of a day will be wasted. Now I must cancel one day at our next destination, and book a night in Manila. I choose a hotel close to the airport (in Pasay), as there is no point going far anyway.
