Mar 8 - Up again in Bangkok for a 4:30 taxi to the airport. To the old one this time (Don Muang). 7:40 flight out, with a stop in Singapore.
I’ve always felt very comfortable traveling in Thailand. It is just an easy place to move around, things are not so expensive, and the people are invariably friendly. I almost feel embarrassed entering a restaurant and getting the soft ‘Sawadee kaaaaa’ from the table servers, and they bow and place their hands together. Modernization has definitely taken off in Thailand, especially Bangkok, but it has managed to fully integrate with the traditional architecture of the multitudes of temples.
COST SUMMARY:
This is our final day in Thailand. The cost summary includes everything from our arrival in Kuala Lumpur until today, excluding the side trip to Bhutan. No surprises here in the proportions, we did a few day trips but they were almost all just glorified taxi rides with nothing else included.
Projected daily cost from the pre-planning phase = $120/day
Realized daily average costs for Jan 28 to Feb 27, and Mar 5 to Mar 8 = $106/day
The share of this cost apportioned to lodging was 38%, food 21%, and transport 15%. Entry fees for touristic sites came in at 17%. The one notable difference was the ‘Pharmacy’ category, coming in at 7%. This is due to our trip to the dentist in Bangkok.
