Day 42: Ruka to Helsinki

MAY 15 - This is our last day to wake up in rural Finland. Clean everything up and head out on the road back to Oulu, where I return the rental car and we fly out.

View from the place we stayed in Ruka. Lake still frozen as usual (there were boats available for paddling around but obviously that wasn’t going to happen). On right of photo there is a ski jump, next to some ski slopes.

Uneventful three hour drive to Oulu, some rain, pass a few reindeer. Take the one hour flight back to Helsinki on Finnair. The best thing about Finnair is the blueberry juice, the best we’ve had in Finland. Take the train from the Helsinki airport to city center, sort out the puzzle of getting our apartment key, and then sort out the puzzle of where in the building complex our room is, dragging around the luggage all the while. Appeal to some building residents for help and this speeds everything up considerably. Finally settle in around 20:30.
