MAY 17 - Another day of logistics, primarily reducing luggage volume. This requires more shopping, to find a replacement bag that is possible for Odette to move. I also find a post office with boxes for purchase and staff on hand for questions.
Odette does a fair bit of math homework. Math, in particular, has become more difficult for her to focus on. But its not possible to make some of these tasks more ‘fun’ when we have so many other things to deal with. At any rate, today there are a good number of hours that can be dedicated to it, ‘fun’ or not.
We are about to leave this chapter of the trip, so I thought I would reflect upon something I did notice while here:
Finland is very well structured for traveling with children. There are an abundance of playgrounds and parks in urban areas, so any touring can be combined with visits to allow the kids to run wild. Also, many of the museums have extensive sections that most children would enjoy, as they are more interactive and present ideas at a level that kids can relate to. We were not here in summer season, but from what I have read, there is even more for children. Water amusement parks and activities such as boating would almost certainly be a hit.
End our last day in Finland by eating at the Helsinki branch of Venn, a sort of fusion restaurant we first enjoyed in Vaasa.
